Meet Sharp Sugar

Almost immediately after graduating Sharp Sugar became a registered company in Edmonton Canada. Sharp – meaning witty, smart, eye-catching and Sugar – slang for girl, but was also a very expensive commodity in the 12th Century.  It started to handle  independent design contracts, then exhibit design, and finally moved across Canada where the girl behind Sharp Sugar popped out a baby!  Sharp Sugar took a year maternity leave and with the hit of the recession, the jobs it had before were no longer there and it found itself at square one – limited work and no contacts in said other side of Canada.

Sharp Sugar had dozens of sketchbooks bursting at the seams with ideas and an itching brain working on high speed trying to figure out how to apply its skills to this new and warmer world in Eastern Ontario.

Sharp Sugar decided to shift its skills to Graphic Design, targeting small local businesses. Sharp Sugar offers a one-on-one solution to marketing conundrums, rather than churning out the stationary standards like business cards and letterheads with pretty logos. Marketing is not a one-size-fits-all. Just because a brochure works for one business, doesn't mean it will work for everyone. This is why Sharp Sugar strives to educate its clients along the way - making them understand their visual identity, target markets, and cohesive branding methods so clients can build confidence in their brand.

In the last two years Sharp Sugar has ventured into a complementary medium: vinyl cut graphics - which have opened up a whole new world of banner and sign design. Sometimes Sharp Sugar likes to play too and the results of which can be occasionally found on www.etsy.com/shop/sharpsugar

In the wake of bringing a baby into the world, Sharp Sugar grew concerned about peak oil, depletion of natural resources, destruction of the environment, and unsustainable lifestyles and practices all over the world. Sharp Sugar started to volunteer, learn, and make connections with local groups, and resilient communities. Its been a fantastic discovery.

Since Sharp Sugar wants to be a face in its community, it has decided to make a personal treck into self-resilience and wants to open up a little bit about its private self to the world and its clients.

I hope you enjoy.
